We had a very inspiring evening at the HighlandLIT on-line Open Mic on Tuesday 15th September, when 21 folk were present, and nine people read work (we had the 9th person in reserve, and managed to slip them in at the end!)
We heard very fine pieces of work in poetry and prose, and we are so grateful to everyone who read – Karen Hodgson Pryce, Jon Miller, Hazel Macmillan, Malcolm Timperley, Anne-Mary Paterson, Aileen Ballantyne, Aoife Lyall, Timski and Graham Bullen. Thank you so much for sharing with us!
Here are a couple of comments from those who were present: Someone said ‘I can’t believe the range of work from gruelling poems re Lockerbie to the tender details of a mother for her baby, great to listen to.’ And Joanna Higgs commented on Facebook ‘I really enjoyed this. Thank you! Some amazing works tonight. from the minutiae of living with our babies, to the requiem for our pals we were too busy to understand fully, and memorably the great prayer asking for relief from our daily news grind.’
Despite the fact that we were all on Zoom, there seemed to be a strong sense of togetherness as we shared in this feast of good writing.
Many thanks to Paul, who chaired the evening with his usual skill, to Jayne who did the administration behind the scenes, and to Cathy who prepared the flyer and set up and managed the event on Zoom. And thanks to everyone who attended.
See you next time!
